"I know that when you arrive at the office each day you say a silent prayer that maybe, just maybe, Sarah Palin will at long last just shut up for just ten fucking minutes. I know because I can see it in your eyes."

Dear Sarah: Every Breath You Take
Sarah Palin's "Blood Libel" message with all the annoying parts edited out.

Dear Sarah: You Failed
President Obama said “We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another is entirely up to us.”
Listening to the great words of our President tamed the tone in which I write this post, even if my words may come with a tinge of hypocrisy given the name of this site. But having absorbed the events of the last few days, listening and, at times, participating in the rhetoric surrounding this tragedy, I am going to express what I feel in a respectful manner.
Dear Sarah -
There are so many things I could spit out here, for the sake of venting for myself, for others I know may be feeling the same feelings after listening to your comments on the horrific events in Arizona.
So what I will say is that THIS is not about you.
It is not about your bruised ego, or your political dreams. It is not about freedom of speech, of the pundits creation of a "blood libel" against you. It is not about vigorous and spirited debate, nor public discourse, nor whether or not there are people attempting to muzzle public debate. It is not about whether or not the rifle-marks sparked action for this young man - the line is not so straight.
It is about the American people, together, rising above the insane act of a disturbed young man.
It is about recognizing the terrible loss for the families of the dead, the community, the state of Arizona and our nation.
It is about us collectively opening our eyes and realizing that the rhetoric has grown to be a monster of its own life, on both sides of the political divide.
Today was an opportunity for you to rise above. To not lash out in defense of your actions and your tone, but to contribute to a rational way forward. To use the voice and influence that you wield to encourage unity, sanity, and healing.
But you failed.
Instead, your pride insisted that you go out swinging in defense of the heated debate, implying that it is all a healthy part of democracy. You put your need to defend yourself over what the nation needs. Your bristling anger was apparent through your calm, smug smiles.
If the likes of you and Glenn Beck continue on this path, and we on the left fight fire with fire, I fear for what we will become.

Dear Sarah: You're sick.
My heart goes out to U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her family, and can only hope that there will be some consequence for Palin who continues to recklessly enflame the radical-right.

Hate Mail
I get more email than I suspected I might for this site, especially given that I don't really promote it much. Mostly your mail is in general agreement and support of my feelings towards "Mama Grizzly" but sometimes I get some dissenting mail and I've decided to post some of these (with out full names of course) and chat through the hate mail. This is unedited except for the removal of the hater name.

To hate someone for not seeing the world as you do shows how small and insignificant you really are.
Isn't it funny how far left people such as yourself claim to come from a position of change and tolerance and openness, yet all the hatred comes directly from people like you. Heck it is even in the name of your pathetic website.
I feel sorry for you.
Dear K,
Your generalization of why I hate Sarah Palin simply shows that you haven't read my first blog. There's a lot of people I don't agree with on a lot of issues that I don't hate. I don't even hate you K, despite your name-calling. If you had read my first blog, you might have gotten that one of my main issues with Sarah Palin is how she spreads her poison through "folksy" talk, pretending to stand up for the little guy, when in fact, she represents the interests of Corporate America. She is a crafty hypocrite, interested in mostly in manipulating our country to benefit her all-consuming quest for power.
She is generally uninformed on the topics she chooses to stick her nose in and relies on sound bytes without substance full of sarcastic and hateful speech to fire up the mass. I am not far left or a socialist. I'm not sure that my more left friends would even call me progressive although I like to think that I am. But that doesn't matter to you really - I must be far-left, liberal elite for "picking on" your dear Sarah Palin.
I guess if I and everyone else who hates Ms. Palin really were small and insignificant, you wouldn't have bothered writing. Thanks for your empathy, but rest assured, you don't have to feel sorry for me - I do this for the love of it.
Girl Friday
PS - You might not want to send hate email from your work email address. Lucky for you, I'm not really as full of hate as you think, otherwise I might have signed you up for a bunch of unsavory spam.

Sarah Palin passively-agressively calls our President "un-American"
First off, the fact that there was a tea party rally in the formerly-great (aka pre-the election of Scott Brown) is gross, just gross.
My mom called and said "my buddy" was yacking on the Boston Common today. Huffington Post kindly condensed her 20 minute speech into a 3 minute highlight reel that contains such gems as:
"Do you love your freedom?!!!?"
"...stealing opportunity in this land of opportunity..."
"I'm not calling anyone un-American" (ps - yes you are)
"Just because we can does not mean you should"
"When they say 'yes we can', we're all going to say 'oh no you don't'"
Okay. Can't watch the whole thing a 2nd time through...so if you want more classic Sarah Palin rhetorical awesomeness, watch the video for yourself below.
If you watch this on a laptop, try not to throw your computer across the room.
I especially love the closing line by whoever the Teabagger jackass that thanked her. Even if Sarah Palin isn't offended, I'm offended for her.
